Opened on September 23, 2018, with over 400,000 square metres of usable floor area, Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station is one of the largest underground high speed train station in the world. West Kowloon Railway Station is located in Hong Kong West Kowloon Terminus that connects Hong Kong section to the mainland China section through high speed rails. Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station is also connected to the MTR West Rail Line Austin Station and Tung Chung Line / Airport Express Kowloon Station via the overhead bridge or pedestrian tunnel.
The Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong highspeed rail is only 26 kilometres long, but it links Hong Kong into the 25,000-kilometre national high-speed rail network. Passengers can travel from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station directly to 48 destinations in the Chinese mainland. The bullet train is designed to travel at 200 km/h in the 26-km Hong Kong section, and 250 - 300 km/h in Mainland China, including Guangzhou-Shenzhen section.
Both Hong Kong port and Mainland China port areas are set up at the station, which allows one-stop clearance procedures for passengers to save their time that less 30 minutes.
