Shanghai South Railway Station (Chinese name 上海南站，Shanghai Nan Zhan) is located in Xuhui District, 9km northwest of the downtown of Shanghai. Operated in 1998 and rebuilt in 2002, this station was reopened on July 01 2006. This station covers 50,000 square metres, and has 6 island platforms, 13 railway tracks. Shanghai South Railway Station combines both ordinary passenger train station (denoted with letter Z/T/K) and high-speed train station(G/D/C series) that serves 97 high-speed trains and bullet trains per day, including Shanghai-Hangzhou Rails.

Since Dec 2019, the electronic tickets have been available on most high-speed and bullet train routes from or to Shanghai South Railway Station.
