Located 13km west of Shanghai city centre, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport(SHA) is 7th busiest airport in China and the 45th busiest in the world. The airport handled 4,5676,600 passengers in 2019.
Shanghai Hongqiao Airport was opened in May 1923. It was rebuilt for civilian use, and was re-opened in April 1964. Two major expansions took place in 1984 and 1988. The terminal 2 was operated in Mar 16, 2010. The renovation of T1 was finished on Oct 15 2018. If the above three categories of residence permits held by foreign nationals are expired after 12 a.m of 28 March 2020, the holders may apply for relevant visas by presenting the expired residence permits and relevant materials to the Chinese embassies or consulates on the condition that the purpose of the holders' visit to China remains unchanged.
