Beijing Capital Airport Departure Guides

Domestic and international departures are on 2nd floor of Terminal 2, and domestic and international departures are on 4th floor of T3C and 2nd floor on T3E. The domestic departures are included check in and getting boarding pass, security check, waiting & boarding. The international departures are included check in and getting boarding pass, security check, inspection & quarantine, frontier inspection, customs inspection, waiting & boarding.

Domestic Departure Guides

Step 1: Confirming Terminal Building and Check-in counter.

A. Please confirm the terminal building with the airport or the airline you fly with in advance.

B. Please check flight information screens for the check-in counter of your flight and other information before you check in.

Step 2: Check in and checked Luggage.

Please check in at the corresponding check-in counter with flight ticket and valid ID; check your luggage and obtain boarding pass.

For smooth boarding, it is recommended that passengers arrive at their terminal 2 hours before departure, and Check-in service closes 45 minutes prior to departure.

Total weight of carry-on luggage should be within 5kg. The size of each luggage should be within 20 x 40 x 55cm. (Be aware that some airlines may have their own size or weight restrictions.) If the luggage fits in the hand luggage measuring container on the security checkpoint, it can be carried along with the passenger. Otherwise, it needs to be checked.

Restrictions on Free Check-in Luggage: First Class—40kg; Business Class—30kg; Economy Class—20kg.

Step 3: Security Check.

Please make sure that your boarding pass, flight ticket and passport are ready for security checks. You are required to pass through the security gate, while your carry-on luggage has to go through X-ray checks for flight safety.

Step 4: Waiting & Boarding.

After security check, you can go to the corresponding lounge in accordance with the boarding gate indicated in your boarding pass. The boarding gate will be closed 10 minutes prior to the departure.

International Departure Guides

Step 1: Confirming Terminal Building and Check-in counter.

Step 2: Check in and checked Luggage.

Please check in at the corresponding check-in counter with flight ticket and valid ID; check your luggage and obtain boarding pass.

For smooth boarding, it is recommended that passengers arrive at their terminal 2h before departure, and Check-in service closes 50 minutes prior to departure.

Step 3: Inspection & Quarantine.

Chinese citizens going out of China for over one year are recommended to obtain a health certificate after physical examinations from relevant inspection and quarantine departments. If your destination happens to be an epidemic area, you are required to go through necessary vaccination procedures.

a. Outgoing passengers suffering from fever, vomiting, jaundice, diarrhea, acute rash, lymphadenopathy, AIDS, venereal disease, mental disorder or open tuberculosis should voluntarily report to the inspection and quarantine officials;

b. Chinese citizens applying for staying abroad for more than one year should show the inspection and quarantine officials valid health certificate (including HIV/AIDS test results) provided by the inspection and quarantine authority;

c. Passengers leaving for the endemic areas of yellow fever are required to show the inspection and quarantine officials valid proof of yellow fever vaccination;

d. Passengers carrying the following items shall report them to the inspection and quarantine officials: biological species, living animals, food made from animals, animal carcasses or specimens, plants and plant products, plant propagating materials, soil and microorganisms, human organism, biological products, blood and blood products.

Step 4: Frontier Inspection.

Foreign passengers are required to show their passports, visas, and exit registration cards. They can only travel out of China within the time limit prescribed in their valid entry visas. The Chinese passengers (including those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) are required to show their passports and visas. If you have any certificates issued by relevant departments, allowing you to travel out of China, please show them promptly.

Step 5: Security Check

Please make sure that your boarding pass, flight ticket and passport are ready for security checks. You are required to pass through the security gate, while your carry-on luggage has to go through X-ray checks for flight safety.

Step 6: Customs Inspection:

Passengers with articles to declare must fill in China Customs Declaration Form for Exit/Entry Passengers and choose “Declaration Channel” (also named “Red Channel”) for Customs clearance; those without any article to declare have no need to fill in the declaration form and can choose the “Non-declaration channel” (also named “Green Channel”) for Customs clearance.

Step 7: Wating and Boarding

After Security Check, you can go to the corresponding waiting lounge in accordance with the boarding gate indicated in your boarding pass.

As the boarding generally starts 30 minutes or more before the takeoff, please pay attention to the broadcasting and flight information screen. Please get the boarding pass ready and show it to the personnel when boarding.

International Departure Tips

1. Which outgoing passengers need to fill in the Customs Declaration?

Passengers who carry personnel objects necessary for journey that shall be re-immigrated, including camera, portable radio / recorder, miniature camera, portable video camera and portable word processor, etc

Passengers who do not carry the original articles required for re-emigration, or passengers whose immigrated objects, which are temporarily duty free, are not Customs cleared;

Passengers who do not have necessary Exit Permit for carried foreign currency, as well as gold, silver and its products, or passengers who carry these items that exceed the amount limit for this entry declaration;

Passengers who carry RMB cash over RMB6,000;

Passengers who carry cultural relics;

Passengers who carry cargo or samples of goods;

Passengers whose carried articles exceed the value limit, quantity limit or other limits stipulated by China Customs;

Passengers who carry animals, plants and their products, which are controlled under China Quarantine Code, or other objects that must be inspected and Customs cleared.

2. Which items are prohibited for immigration and emigration?

Items forbidden for entry:

All kinds of weapons, imitative weapons, ammunition and explosive objects;

Spurious currency and feigned marketable securities;

Print, film, photo, disk, movie, tape, videotape, videodisc, laser disk, computer storage medium and other objects, which are harmful to Chinese politics, economy, culture and morality;

Various acrid poison;

Opium, morphine, diamorphine, bhang, as well as other dope and psychoactive drug that may cause addiction;

Foodstuff, medicine or other objects, which are from epidemic areas and harmful to human and animal's health, or other pestiferous ones.

Items forbidden for exit:

All the objects included in the range of forbidden items for entry;

Manuscript, print, film, photo, disk, movie, tape, videotape, videodisc, laser disk, computer storage medium and other objects, which are related to state secrets;

Valuable cultural relics, and other cultural relics forbidden for exit;

Endangered and precious animals and plants (their specimen included), as well as their seeds and progenitive materials.

3. How to process temporary Identity Card for boarding?

If your valid Identity Card was lost, damaged or outdated, please process relevant procedures, by submitting the original or fax copy of your Domicile Certificate, issued by local Police Station at your place of domicile, and two recent 1' photos, without any headwear, of the applicant. (Please note: The PLA man and armed police need to submit the original or fax copy of Letter of Introduction, issued by the Political Dept. of his organization; The student need to submit the Student's Identity Card.)

4. Do you know the following restrictive provisions for check-in baggage?

Domestic flight: Total weight should be no more than 5kg. The size of each luggage should be no more than 20 x 40 x 55cm.

International flight: Total weight should be no more than 7kg (Some Airlines have their own special limits). The size of each luggage should be no more than 20 x 40 x 55cm (The sum of length, width and height should be no more than 115cm).Please note: The above are general provisions and different Airlines may have their own standards. Please check your flight tickets for specific information.

5. Which items are permitted in check-in baggage, but forbidden in carry-on luggage?

Besides any items prohibited in hand luggage or check-in bags, any of the other sharp objects that are harmful to aviation safety, such as: Household knives, including kitchen knives, clippers, big fruit knives and razors, etc.; Professional knives, including surgical knives, sticking knives and gravers, etc.; Knives, spears and swords, etc., which are used for literary performance; Axes, chisels, hammers, awls, sharpened sticks, sticks with sharp nails and alpenstocks; Other sharp objects and blunt items harmful to aviation safety.

7. Do you know the following provisions for liquid items in carry-on luggage?

Each passenger is allowed to carry 2 (two) bottles (no more than 500ml each) of liquid items maximum for each flight, including carbonate drink, mineral water, tea, milk, yoghourt and fruit juice, etc., and these liquid items cannot be carried in hand baggage until they are verified. In addition, those left items must be carried as check-in luggage.

Liquor (in bottle or tin) is prohibited in passenger's carry-on luggage, but maximum 2 (two) bottles (1kg) can be carried in each passenger's check-in baggage for each flight, and the packaging of the liquor must meet the provisions of CAAC for transportation.
