The starfish-shaped terminal building features the world's largest single piece of stainless steel roof, which covers a total area of 223,000 square meters. The design of five connected concourses helps reduce walking distances between the main check-in hall and the farthest gates in the 470,000-square-meter terminal to no more than 550 meters and less than 6 minutes.

The building has been designed according to the nation's highest standards for conserving water, energy, land and other resources that can be recycled and reused when needed. It is able to serve about 35 million passengers a year, allowing 298,000 landings and takeoffs. It also it able to handle about 500,000 metric tons of cargo per year.
